Rio Public Schools

Zoya Khan

Get was a public school in Rio and this school felt the most familiar out of all the schools that we had gone to this school had a curriculum for everything and had like a timeline for everything they made art to express themselves, but even art had a curriculum and in one of the pictures that I’ve shown here it is the book that they follow. Everyone follows this book however, while learning about the school, we learned that they provide free meals for all their students and also they really care for their students in succeeding. Something I found really funny was when a student said why are these people coming to see our jail which I up until that moment have only met students that were very grateful for the school that they were in and it felt like America where children feel forced to be at the school and instead of having the feeling of gratefulness and opportunity. I didn’t talk to many people other than our own party, but I did talk to two boys that were working on a project. They were making a new game out of Uno cards. Uno 2.0 they made up new rules and new cards and added it to the game. We also saw kids doing traditional Capoeira martial arts outside in the front yard, which was very cool because I didn’t know how big that traditional martial arts was until we went around everywhere and every school was doing some version of it, whether public or private.
