There are not enough words to describe our program time in Brazil! It was an exhilarating week filled with enriching experiences and unforgettable memories which blended academic exploration with cultural immersion and plenty of fun! We were led by the amazing Juliana, Campus b program coordinator, who guided us day-to-day, shared insights into culture and academics, and shared her expertise with the group daily, truly shaping each and every one of our experiences.

Our group of 11 bright and adventurous UIC students delved into the heart of Brazilian culture, starting with insightful visits to various schools and universities in São Paulo and Rio, from private to public to indigenous. These visits provided a unique opportunity for us to engage with Brazilian educators and students, exchanging ideas and perspectives on education and academic life. From lively discussions to hands-on activities, each visit left a lasting impression, broadening our understanding of the Brazilian educational system and fostering meaningful connections with our Brazilian counterparts.

Beyond the classroom, we immersed ourselves in the vibrant energy of São Paulo and the iconic sights of Rio de Janeiro. We explored eclectic neighborhoods, ate all the traditional Brazilian cuisine, and soaked up all of the art and culture we could (does Karaoke count as culture?). With this group, every single moment was an adventure!

To the amazing 2024 UIC cohort— thank you for your enthusiasm, curiosity, and adventurous spirit! I hope this trip inspires many more travels for each and every one of you in the future!
