Brazil, 2023

So excited to launch year two of the Education, Globalization, & the Child program in Brazil! With a new group of 10 eager students and an updated program, we set off on Friday, March 17th for our flight to São Paulo.

After a long travel journey, including a layover in Miami, we arrived in São Paulo on Saturday, March 18th and were greeted by this year’s Campus b program coordinators, Renato and Barbara, who were amazing guides for our week together.

Before checking in to our hotel, we explored a bit of the Jardins neighborhood, including lunch at Padaria Galeria dos Pães, and a walk through Rua Oscar Freire, one of the most elegant streets in São Paulo.

Our hotel was just a couple of blocks from the iconic Paulista Avenue, giving students quick access to shopping, food, cultural institutions like the São Paulo Museum of Art, and Trianon Park, a small but lush park that almost makes you forget you’re in the middle of the largest city in the Southern Hemisphere.

For our first night in São Paulo, we were welcomed with a dinner at Bovino’s, a Brazilian steakhouse with more food than we could eat and a night out on Rua Augusta. It was a wonderful first day in São Paulo, the most populous city in Brazil, the 4th largest city in the world, and the largest Portuguese speaking city in the world. Our program was packed full with four days of visits and activities in São Paulo and another four days in Rio de Janeiro—and you can read more about students’ perspectives of all these activities!
