Sao Paulo to Rio de Janerio
By Ivan Garay
This morning we drove from our hotel in Sao Paulo to the airport and flew to Rio De Janeiro. The flight was a pretty short one, only about one hour. The views were absolutely breathtaking.
Hotel check in was a little delayed so we made the plan to visit sugarloaf mountain first. The scenery in Rio was unlike anything I had ever seen before. Since when do people go to the beach and go swimming in March?? Are they seriously happy in March because of the weather?? The cable car trip was incredible, (a bit scary with the rocking back and forth). We got to see big Jesus (Christ the Redeemer) from afar and hidden by the clouds. It was a very surreal experience. Personally, I couldn’t hold my emotions in. Everywhere I went and saw was something I’ll never forget.
We then went to a restaurant with some incredible views of the ocean :’). We ended the day by going back to the hotel, checking in, and getting situated. I personally explored the city and neighborhood. As someone who grew up in an area where nothing is expected of us and everyone either wants to join a gang or sell drugs, it was really nice to just walk around the neighborhood, have the wind blowing, and Copacabana beach was right in front of me.
