Parceiros da Educacao & CIEP Agostinho NETO

During the visit to non profit organization Paraceiros da Educação, we learned about how their work helps positively impact the lives of students who attend their adopted schools. Their goal is to implement public policies that actually work and get results. To do this they focus on teacher continuing their educational practices. For this organization it’s very important to have teachers buy into the program and hear about the lessons that they need to implement. If they don’t have the support of the teacher, the program will not work. The teacher is their pathway into making this program work for the students. They focus on the person (teachers) rather than the larger school. This way the students are getting more direct guidance by a teacher who is taking courses and bettering the teaching methods per instructions through the organization.

We also visited one of the schools that Paraceiros da Educação partners with, CIEP Agostinho Neto, where we visited classrooms, met with students and teachers, and had the opportunity to compare and contrast public education in Rio and Chicago.
